A Day From Saint Philip

MORNING

Café au lait, beignets, and Jackson Square as the Quarter wakes.

AFTERNOON

Galleries, courtyards, and shops—then a quiet pause back at Saint Philip.

AFTER DARK

Dinner, music, and the glow of the Quarter, all within walking distance.

Local Rituals

BOURBON STREET, THREE CLASSICS

Start at Pat O’Brien’s for a Hurricane and the piano bar. Continue to Tropical Isle for a Hand Grenade, then finish at historic Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop with its famous purple drink. Take your time, hydrate, and enjoy the people-watching.

A BEIGNET A DAY

Make it a tasting tour: start with Café du Monde for the classic, compare Café Beignet on Royal or Bourbon, then try Loretta’s in the French Market for a praline-filled—or savory crabmeat—beignet. Powdered sugar is part of the experience.

BEYOND THE QUARTER

Pair the Aquarium with a riverfront walk and shopping at Riverwalk Outlets. Then ride the red Riverfront Streetcar from the French Market toward Canal Street—or catch the Canal Streetcar toward City Park for an easy change of scenery.

Mardi Gras & Festival Season

FESTIVALS IN THE QUARTER

The Creole Tomato Festival, Satchmo SummerFest, holiday concerts, and smaller French Market celebrations keep the neighborhood lively beyond Carnival. There is nearly always something unfolding within a walk of Saint Philip.

MARDI GRAS, QUARTER STYLE

The major float parades roll beyond the Quarter, while these historic streets host walking krewes, costumed revelers, live music, and spontaneous celebration. From Saint Philip, you are already inside the atmosphere.

FRENCH QUARTER FEST

Four days of local music, food, and stages throughout the neighborhood—many within an easy walk of Saint Philip.

WALKING & NEIGHBORHOOD KREWES

Watch for Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc, Krewe Bohème, Krewe of Cork, Barkus, the Society of Saint Anne, Krewe du Vieux, and Krewe of Boo. Routes change each season, so check official schedules before arrival.
